Pulau Perhentian is located on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia, close to the Thai border. Perhentian consist of a small group of islands, the main ones are Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Island) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island).
The Main resorts are located around these two islands, and the remaining surrounding islands are not inhabited. Pulau Perhentian is famous for its peacefulness, clear warm water, rich marine life, and white sandy beaches. It has all the qualities a dream paradise island needs. The beaches are untouched; its beauty is unknown.
The word Perhentian means Stopping Over in the local language, because during bad weather the fishermen will flock to the 2 main islands to seek shelter.
Pulau Perhentian is under the protection of the Marine Park of Malaysia, therefore the surrounding islands are well protected and the fish life is abundant.
