Place of Interest

• Taiping Lake Garden - one of the biggest and most beautiful parks in the country. Located also within the garden is the oldest zoo in the country, Taiping Zoo.
• Taiping Zoo - 'Taman Mergastua Sultan Idris Shah' or the Taiping zoo, is located at the Taiping Lake Garden.
  
  Covering an area of 34 acres, the Taiping Zoo has embarked on an expansion programme which includes the building of new "Open Concept" animal enclosures.
  
  More than 1,200 animals from 175 species of birds, reptiles and mammals are exhibited in natural-looking enclosures.
  
• Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill) - Malaysia's oldest hill resort is located on Bukit Larut (formerly called Maxwell Hill), a mere 10 minutes drive from Taiping town. Situated at an altitude of 1,034 meters, it is accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles.
  
  The road up twists and turns through tropical virgin jungle, and fresh grenn fragrance and cool air greeting you as you ascend.
• Museum Perak - built in 1883, this is the oldest museum in the country. This is an excellent place to begin an in-depth study of the state and its past achievements.
• Kuala Sepetang (Fishing Village) - besides the Kuala Sepetang mangrove swamp, there is also a natural centuries-old site on an island covering over 100 acres fronting the Port Weld.
  
• Matang Mangrove Farm - this virtually virgin mangrove swamp is a beautiful natural splendour any photographer would naturally relish the opportunity to capture moments on film.
  
  Just looking around and immersing oneself with the glory of God's gift is enough to intrigue most professionals. Covering over an area nearly 500 hectares, this natural recreational site presents one with the opportunity to be alone with nature.
