Itinerary:
Day 1:Sandakan / Selingan Turtle Island
At 0830 hrs, transfer from your hotel in Sandakan to the jetty to board boat for 1 hr 15 minutes to Selingan Turtle Island. Check in chalet. Lunch. Afternoon, free at leisure, ideal for snorkelling and swimming. After dinner, watch turtle laying eggs on the beach, transfer of the eggs to the hatchery and release of hatchlings to the sea. Overnight at chalet. (Lunch/Dinner included).
(If you are joining this tour from Kota Kinabalu by the first flight, we will pick you up at Sandakan airport to join this tour).

Day 2:Selingan Turtle Island / Gomantang/ Kinabatangan/Sukau
After breakfast, depart by boat to mainland of Sandakan and proceed to Gomantong Caves by road. Explore the biggest bird’s nest caves in Sabah. Continue the journey to Sukau by Kinabatangan River. Check in Sukau River Lodge.
Boat trip to watch the curious proboscis monkeys gather by the river bank. A good chance to see numerous species of birds and other wildlife until nightfall. Dinner. Slide show. If weather permits, night walk to search for stick insects, frog and beatles. Stay overnight at the Sukau River Lodge. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner included) |
Day 3: Sepilok Orang Utan Centre / Sandakan City Tour
After breakfast, return to Sandakan and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Centre. Witness the feeding of the orphaned orang utans. Walk along a jungle trail and observe the tropical lowland rainforest. Numerous wildlife may be seen. After lunch, proceed to the Observation Pavillion for a bird eye view of Sandakan. Proceed to the Central Market where produce from the hinterland and fresh seafood are on sales here.
The market is also the focal point for socialising among the locals. Drive up to the Chinese Temple located on a hill where you can see the colourful interior decoration of this magnificant temple with a commanding view. Continue the journey to St.Michael's Church where you can see a coloniel style building where Christianity is preached.
Drive to Sim Sim where you can see houses on stilt above the water occupied by local tribes. Transfer to Sandakan airport for your return flight to Kota Kinabalu and transfer back to your hotel by 1900 hrs. (Breakfast/Lunch included) |
