Within the city you will find the Sultan's Royal Palace surrounded by the old city walls, and nearby is the Water Palace, now in ruins but once the personal pleasure gardens of the Sultan and well worth a look. Yogya is a bustling city but small enough to explore on foot, by bicycle or by 'becak' (traditional rickshaw).
