The capital city
of New Zealand is the real city of culture. There are three repertory
theaters, a wide range of musical events, and the famous International
Festival of Arts. Every year-end, the New Zealand School of Dance and
the New Zealand Drama School, Toi Whakari, hold performances at various
venues.

This is New Zealand's prime ballet company, which was established 45 years
ago. Tickets can be obtained from Ticketek (04-385 0832).
Those with a flair
for concerts should drop by the Michael Fowler Centre (MFC). Housed in
the attractive Civic Centre, this concert hall is the venue for major

Live pub music is
available at Molly Malones. Another good location would be Tatou, which
is noted for its good jazz served in smart, modern surroundings.
