There are other rooms in the temple that are used for meetings and cremating urns.

Central Cross-Island Highway

Many claim that a visit to Taiwan is not complete without a trip down the Central Cross-Island highway. The highway stretches 200 kilometers from Tungshih through Taroko Gorge to the eastern coast. Everyone should, at least, visit the highway and apperceive the striking sight of the island's rainbow hues, lush tropical valleys, snow-capped peaks, alpine forests, steamy hot springs, roaring rivers, shimmering sea, and mountain lakes.

The highway was completed in 1960, but at the cost of 450 lives who struggled for four years to finish the road. It branches out into Lishan and Taichung, but passes through other major spots along the way.
